It has been almost two years since I have had the diagnosis of fibromyalgia.For years I suffered with stiff muscles and joints. I have felt like body parts were on fire. Loud noises and other things like that I am super sensitive to. I went to my family doctor and got referred to a rheumatologist.
There are times when I feel like I have been beaten with a baseball bat or hit by a truck. It is like I have the flu every single day. This can be extremely debilitating to live with. It does not help with my bipolar depression that I also suffer from. I found I feel more depressed than anything especially when I am hurting.
It is not known what causes fibromyalgia. There are medicines out there to treat fibromyalgia i have been prescribed muscle relaxers with pain pills. This can help with pain relief but also can cause dependency. I will be starting Lyrica. I have put it off in the past due to weight gain worries. Type 2 diabetes is something else I am being treated for so I have started walking. I walk on average five miles a day. Twice a day I take a walk which is around a mile and a half to two miles. It all depends on if I want to do the full two miles, I let my body be the judge on how far I push myself each day.
Walking has seemed to ease some of the discomfort of the fibromyalgia. It has also helped to boost my mood. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress which also feeds into the fibromyalgia. If a person is dealing with a lot of stress it can lead to more of the discomfort of the fibromyalgia. I have a lot of things battling each other and I try and find a way to cope. It can be hard to deal with at times. There are times I will be in pain and I just sit and cry.
